Specialist and General Surgeon pioneer cancer remo
11/18/2004
Lung Cancer removal puts Palo Pinto County on the map. Thoracic Surgeon, Dr. J.P. Reddy and Chief General Surgeon Dr. Matt Adams, teamed with the surgical crew at Palo Pinto General Hospital, performed a procedure for the first time at PPGH where cancer was removed from the lungs without cutting open and exposing vital organs to the elements. This endoscopic method of removing the cancer is minimally invasive and has been used at much larger metroplex hospitals, however rarely do rural hospitals enjoy the expert medical staffing that can perform this revolutionary procedure that Palo Pinto General Hospital now can offer. Dr. J.P. Reddy expressed his appreciation of the work Dr. Matt Adams has accomplished at PPGH and enjoys working with him on pioneering procedures such as this. “He is an excellent surgeon and I think we make a good team”. He added, “The patient went home cancer free the next day and will experience a speedy recovery with much less complications, because of this surgery and our team”. Dr. J.P Reddy and Dr. Matt Adams would especially like to thank Joe Wenszell, Susan Woodring, Sue Duncan, Noreen Rollings, Carol Vonatzigen and Cindy Beck, for their outstanding assistance and professionalism.

PPGH Auxiliary gives the gas to swing open the doo
7/29/2005
The doors will finally open in the new Urgent Care Center, which was finished in the newly constructed PPGH expansion project spring of 2005. "We had the 4 walls but no way to use them", said Stein, Director of Development and Volunteer Services of Palo Pinto General Hospital. Our expansion and renovation project is beautiful however, now we need to fill the rooms and the hurdles are tall. Then, out of the blue our Auxiliary stepped up and said, we're here with $30,000.00. As soon as that happened and the word was out, a prominent business person in town turned his and his wife's passion for giving to our need and wrote another $30,000.00 check for the Urgent Care Center. This donor wishes to remain anonymous or you would here me shout their names from the rooftop", said Stein. She went on to say, "Once you have felt the rush of gratification that goes with giving, you'll never forget it and you'll want to feel it again and again. That's an addiction and it's called, A Philanthropists".

Quality of Life is alive and well in Minerall Well

Palo Pinto Area Foundation follows the mission set forth 38 years ago, by its founding fathers, and gives another $200,000.00 toward the purchase of PACS/CR.
Palo Pinto General Hospital enters the world of digital radiography with the purchase of PACS/CR (Picture Archived Computer Storage/Computerized Radiography). The Physicians can now view your x-ray film and give an instant diagnosis at 2:00 AM, from a remote location such as their home, if necessary. "Soon we will be able to provide Tele-Radiology to our patients and physicians. This will allow physicians, local or across the country, to view images without having to look at traditional film," says Harris Brooks, assistant administrator at PPGH.
The Palo Pinto Area Foundation's 38-year commitment to help keep Palo Pinto County technologically advanced has once again been addressed. “Our mission statement is clear and simple. We are here to support the healthcare needs of the citizens of Palo Pinto County and strive to deliver life saving technology to the physicians and staff of Palo Pinto General Hospital, by way of philanthropy,” says Richard Ball, President of the Palo Pinto Area Foundation. The citizens of Palo Pinto County and beyond can share this mission. Philanthropy is a necessary corner stone of every hospital, everywhere. Philanthropy is people giving to people and projects. Philanthropy is; being part of a group who’s sole purpose is charitable activities to improve the quality of life of ones community. At Palo Pinto General Hospital, these are called valued supporters.
If you are interested in knowing more about how you can be a valued supporter, call Cynthia Stein, Director of Development at Palo Pinto General Hospital, 940-328-6419.
